The Jeans For Me

My Awesome Jean Design! > indiDenim: Custom Jeans Made Just For You! I went to this amazing site called indidenim.com and fell in love with a $150 pair of jeans, designed just for my fit. It asked me about my waist size, the wash, height, weight (no clue why), body proportion, Fabric, features and measurements. I can't believe how much information is needed to design one pair of jeans, I bet that they would fit perfectly. However, they would cost me $150 !! Money that I would not wish to spend on jeans, when I could spend $20 on a pair that will fit me at this stage in my growth. I'm still growing height and weight wise (I hope), so to spend to much money on something that wouldn't fit me for long is gratuitous. Though these jeans are wonderfully tempting....I still need to save for school:( Maybe when I am a lawyer, or something succesful, I'll use this website once again; if there's no better technology. But, the algorithm process was succeful, the pair of jeans that were designed looked like they would fit me very well. But what does algorithm mean? It's a set of precise steps and questions to solve a problem.

Strangely Disturbing Beggin' Brand Dog Treats.

If you go to http://beats.beggintime.com/ there's a video you can watch. It's a different way of advertising, a way to reach out to the people who use the Internet, and judging from the medium of the video, I'm guessing that the target audience is a younger group. It must be much more expensive to advertise on T.V, so why not spend a few bucks and put a commercial on your website. This commercial would have inspired me to buy some beggin' time dog treats, had it not been so disturbing. If you recall my post about avatars, and the key I mentioned. The key to using avatars is to NOT MAKE IT ANNOYING. I think that this includes videos. Props for finding a new way to save money and advertise, but Purina loses points from weirdness. But hey, the rhyming was good.

Que!!

There's something new in the world of publishing and literature. Que pourrait-il être? Peut-Etre le Que? Yes, the Que! The Que is the newest innovation to enter our lives, though you may not see it soon, because it is currently priced at nearly $800. This technology is 1/3 inch thin, and allows you to carry thousands of books, word processing documents, excel spreadsheets and powerpoints. Instead of carrying a heavy book bag, carry this 1 pound plastic e-reader. Almost like an ipod touch, the e-book has a touch screen and allows you to access documents and books, just not music. This sounds like a really good idea, no more squinting at small wording, or wasting trees, or losing documents; it's all you need at your fingertips. This may be helpful to readers and companies, but terrible for others. If this piece of technology becomes a household object, like the T.V, what will happen to all the ink companies, the libraries, and paper mills. True, this e-reader is good for the environment, but horrible for the companies that so many people work for. In this economy, can we afford to lose these businesses. Also, this product will probably be manufactured in Japan, out of reach for the workers of paper mills, and ink companies. Is the Que going too far?

Avatars, not like the ones used in movvies.

This is me, to the left, as an avatar. The hair isn't quite the same, but the premise is right. If they had an optional stack of books as an accessory, I would have gotten that. I found that options were limited and that weeme on msn was a better option. Weeme allows more complex changes, and you can add animations, and post it on your msn. This program, DoppelMe is still impressive, it's really cool. Aside from being an assignment, and fun, how can avatars help your business to flourish. If you go to a website, Scottish Stained Glass, you are greeted by an avatar. Avatars are great because they are peronal, and allow an almost personal experience. Avatars are like a greeter, so the customers feel like they are actually in the store. The key to success when using an avatar is to not be too annoying, obnoxious or verbous. The avatar at the above website was very helpful, I felt like I could visit the website without getting lost, because I could always click on the polite avatar to answer any questions. The avatar was like having a mini salesperson on my desktop. The avatar had detail, gestures, and an accent! It looked like the company put a lot of effort into the avatar, which means that they care about making me, the potential customer, feel important. Today, customer service is very important, and when you can achieve it online; I can only imagine what the store must be like.

Cell Phones

So, I went to these websites cellphones.about.com and www.measy.com to find the perfect cell phone for me. I barely ever use my cell phone as it is, and I've always wondered...is it the right cell phone for me? This survey shows that my phone is not exactly right for me. But how did they know? They asked me about customer service, the style of the phone, the carrier, and size. All important things when considering a cell phone. I discovered from the first website that the best cell phones for me would be 1. The LG Voyager, which I would absolutely love to have 2. LG Incite which looks very futuristic. 3. Samsung Propel Pro these are my top three phones at cellphones.about.com. At www.measy.com I discovered that the $19.98 Motorola Droid is the best choice for me, though it almost sounds like something out of Star Wars. It's great for making calls, multimedia, camera and videa, and customer service! Personally, I woulds prefer the LG Incite.

Do I Got Good Grammar?

English is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and though Canadians speak well, they do not speak eloquently. Studies have shown that English (with a Unit on grammar) is one of the subjects that children struggle with. Grammar is something that cannot be learned, but experienced. But how can one experience grammar, when the society we live in speaks an entirely different language? As I walk down the streets, I hear "I ain't gonna do that!" or "I seen that movie" and "I done that" and it kills me. I am an avid reader, and to hear such grammatically incorrect speech nearly kills me! The only the way to properly learn grammar, is to read it, breathe it, experience it. Grammar is like another language, and what better way to learn than to speak it as much as possible; to surround yourself with it. Now that you have thought of it, do you have good grammar? I Never Would Have Thought You Could Personalize This..

We as humans have a need to acquire things that no one has. Every woman wants the wedding dress that is all your own, every family wants an identity that is their own. People feel driven to be able to say "I have something that no one else has, something that is all my own." Maybe we are just snobby creatures, but this desire has driven us to personalize cars, t-shirts, computers, watches, jewellery and more. But what about tissue boxes? Yes, Scottie's has developed a personalized tissue box. No more impersonal boxes, ugly prints that you don' want. Swype technology. Innovation or aggravation?

Swype is the latest technology in the texting department. For all you texters out there who are clumsy with the keyboard, or just hate all the time it takes to click on a letter, there's swype. Swype allows you to drag your finger across the keyboard, when you pause on a letter, it inputs the letter into your message. You can travel over the whole keyboard, and only chose a few letters by hesitating. I myself hate selecting the individual letters, and I would gladly embrace this technology. However, this technology can be an aggravation if you aren't completely sure of yourself, and pause over the wrong letters. What id you are trying to drag your finger to the "U" but you pause on "T"? Maybe seeing the lines symbolizing the path of your finger, aggravates you. We're all different and find technology either usefull of useless. I think that the pros outweigh the cons with this technology, because I'm a clumsy texter. But everyone's different. What do you think? Innovation or aggravation? Is swype the future of tecting? We'll see if it catches on.

An Inspiring man

What would you do, if you had no legs, no arms? No more running, walking, typing, or even getting up once you fall. You are totally dependent upon other people, unless you are Nick Vujicic. This man took something that should hold him back, and used it to help other people move forward. Nick is an inspirator, a motivator, who speaks to children. He goes through life, gaining both mental and physical strength, doing what others call "the impossible". All without limbs. He says to students "I'm telling you, there are sometimes in life, when you fall down. You feel like you don't ahve the strength to get back up.Do you think you do? Because I'm down here, face down, and I have no arms or legs. It should be impossible for me to get back up, but it's not. You see, I will try 100 times to get back up. If I fail 100 times. If I fail to get back up 100 times, and I give up, do you think I'll ever get up?No. At least if I fail, I'm going to try again, and again, and again. But I just want to let you know that it is not the end." He got up on the first attempt. Something that should've been impossible for him, he made possible. AT least if he failed, he could try again, and have a chance to get up again. He taught me that. We complain about money, toothaches, relationships, and we give up. If this man can do the "impossible" why can't we, we with 2 legs, 2 arms, and strength. Maybe, where we win in physical abilities, he wins in mental strength. I can see why he is a motivational speaker, because he is a man who will "get back on the horse" when it does not appear to be possible.

Acting...Dancing...Critics

Hi World. So last night I was watching Dancing With the Stars, and I have to say, some

shined, and some lost their luster. Kate Gosselin is included in the "lost their

luster" category. She looked bored, frustrated, and robotic in her "Tango" movements.

Long story short, it was painful to watch. I myself am not to quick on my feet, but I

recognize when bad has turned to terrible. In other news... Miley Cyrus has been

slammed by the New York Post when a Critic said "Acting, for the moment at least,

seems almost entirely beyond her... she pouts, slouches, storms in and out of rooms

and occasionally cracks a snaggle-toothed smile, but most of the time she seems to

be mugging for the camera, play-acting rather than exploring the motives and

feelings of her character." -- The New York Times OUCH! The only good review it got

was from her co-star/boyfriend for the moment Liam Hemsworth. Here's a quote about

Have you looked at your paycheck lately?

Hello World! This post is for all of you workers out there. If you haven't checked your paycheck, you wouldn't have noticed, the miraculous miracle that has been preformed. Minimum wage has increased! I've been waiting for this moment for a year now, so I could save even more money for University. Personally, my wage increased from $8.90/h to $9.60/h. That's a 70c increase! It may not seem like a lot, but it feels like it. This may motivate people out there who don't want a job to find one A.S.AP. Holograms- magic or science?

I just finished watching the video Mr. Curtis just posted on his blog about holograms. For everyone out there, who has no clue as to what a hologram is, here's a lovely definition from dictionary.com. Hologram:a negative produced by exposing a high-resolution photographic plate, without camera or lens, near a subject illuminated by monochromatic, coherent radiation, as from a laser: when it is placed in a beam of coherent light a true three-dimensional image of the subject is formed. Those are just fancy words for a 3-D picture that appears in front of you, it is broadcasted from a special device, and in some cases, you can move the hologram with a gesture. This gesture is called an AirStrike and with a srike of the hand, the hologram can disolve into pixels, or move upward or downward. I think that this is amazing because the lady in the hologram looked very lifelike. If we improve this technology, and find a way to incorportate this into our homes, this could be a new way to communicate. Science has gotten very close to magic, especially with holograms.

Okay, two questions I have to answer. What is the percent that EC got the forecast for the Kingston area correct? and.... What area did EC get right? Environemt Canada said that the Kingston area would recieve 50-55% precipitation, looking out the window, I see that they were right. I think that they got the prairies right, I have family there, and they said that it's been raining a bit. EC also has the benefit of sophisticated devices, and smart people.

Miley Cyrus Makes Babies Cry

I really don't like Miley Cyrus that much, something about her voice is.....fake, but I shouldn't judge, considering I can only sing in the shower, and even there I'm terrible. So, I am happy to report that the sound of Miley's voice makes babies cry.

Rwandan Grand Prix- Will you donate?

This Rwandan Orphanage does not appear to have any likeness to Orphan Annie's home, in fact, the method of advertising is motivating. A group of young adults decided to get people to donate to their orphanage through a video, using the theme of the day, fun. Once you watch this video, let me know- why is that guy danceing randomly in the street? I have to say, laughter is better than sadness when you are trying to make people donate. This video shows that the children can live with their imaginations, but some objects of substance would be wonderful as well. This video was an amazing idea, but I can't help but wonder.....what technology did they use to develope this video? You would need a camera, time, and a computer to edit and post on youtube. Hopefully, the money they recieve will cover these costs. Please, if you can, donate.

The Revolutionary Bottle Bank

The fun theory. A theory so revolutionary, so amazing, so world changing! and aspplied to a Bottle Bank. The people who developed this theory tested it on a bottle bank, and not just any bottle bank, but one in an arcade form. What exactly is the "Fun Theory"? According to the video on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSiHjMU-MUo) The thesis states that fun can alter people's behaviour in a positive way. Not to difficult to believe if we think about this, if we apply it to our own lives. In my past experience, teachers have tried to make activities fun, to improve our learning. This theory worked in the classroom, and worked with recylcing as well. The experiment was simple, change the original design of the bottle bank to something amazing, something fun, and exciting. Would this make people want to recycle even more?! It did. This revolutionary Bottle Bank had over 100 players, the other, original bank, two visits. Take a step back and think of what you just discovered, the control, a normal Bottle Bank, the difference between the two? FUN! The Easter Bunny
